IN THIS ISSUE:
This issue’s Illustrator profile is of John Parra, an editorial and children’s book artist whose work combines the themes of family, childhood and Latino culture. One reveiwer wrote that Parra’s style reflected a combination of Marc Chagall meets your child’s best refrigerator art. With heavy influences of Mexican and American folk art, Day-of-the-Dead art, Mesoamerican artifacts coupled with early-twentieth-century fashion and style, Parra creates a unique flavor in the area of picture books.

Congratulations to our CQ68 winners and to our Best of Show, Jay Torres.

John Parra is an award-winning artist, illustrator, author and educator, best known for his Latino-themed children’s picture books.
